La serie de HBO "Succession", en su tercera temporada, se convirtió en la producción con mayor cantidad de nominaciones, 25, en la edición de este año de los premios Emmy de la Academia de la TV estadounidense. Al drama sobre la lucha familiar por el poder entre los propietarios de un conglomerado mediático le siguió en candidaturas la telecomedia de de Apple TV "Ted Lasso", con 20, lo mismo que la nueva serie limitada "The White Lotus", también de HBO. Solo un actor latino ha sido nombrado, el guatemalteco Oscar Isaac, por "Scenes From a Marriage", ya que pese a sonar previamente, Selena Gómez no ha sido nombrada por "Only Murders in the Building".

Dos series de comedia, "Hacks" (HBO) y "Only Murders in the Building" (Hulu) obtuvieron ambas 17 candidaturas, para una edición 74 cuya gala tendrá lugar el  12 de septiembre.

"Succession", creada por  Jesse Armstrong, aparte de ser la gran favorita bate un récord histórico, el de la producción con mayor cantidad de nominaciones para su elenco, nada menos que 14, superando el previo de 12 para "The West Wing" en varios años y los 13 de "Roots" en una sola edición. Entre las candidaturas de la serie de HBO están las de Brian Cox y Jeremy Strong en la categoría de mejor actor en una serie dramática, J. Smith Cameron y Sarah Snook en la de mejor actriz de reparto, y ​​Nicholas Braun, Kieran Culkin y Matthew McFayden en la categoría de mejor actor de reparto.
